Give Back to Your Community Program

Southern Minnesota Nurses would like to continue the Give Back to Your Community Program that was started by Fifth District. The idea is to choose projects that will in some way provide either services or resources to our members or to the various communities within southern Minnesota.

Projects will be chosen from suggestions made by Southern Minnesota Nurses members.  Projects can provide services or resources for a family, a nonprofit organization, a demographic group such as youth or elderly, or an organization such as a shelter. Members should submit suggestions for projects by email to Linda Rossow at for consideration by the Southern Minnesota Nurses Board.

Southern Minnesota Nurses may do fundraising for a specific project or to establish a fund that can be used towards these projects. The money can be used directly as a donation. Monies can be used to bring members together as they work on the project. If a group chooses for example to adopt a shelter, Southern Minnesota Nurses could provide funds so that a small party could be held at the shelter when the items are brought. The Southern Minnesota Nurses board will prioritize the suggestions and vote on any money distributions.

We will plan to send out flyers to members summarizing the projects chosen and how members can participate in any of the projects. If you have questions, feel free to call Linda Rossow at 507-345-1487.

A chairperson will be selected for each project and will be listed as the contact person for questions and concerns. Information regarding each project will be supplied to the membership and others in the community to engage the specific communities in the project. If items are being collected, a list will be available and publicized for collection, along with collection sites and deadlines. Monetary donations should be sent to Coni Rodgers (Treasurer) at 28204 Ridge Road, Cleveland, MN 56017.
