SMN member meeting and pizza at 5:30, presentation begins at 6:00 p.m.
Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato

Speaker: Jason Dauffenbach, MD

A native of Mankato, Dr. Dauffenbach completed his training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, followed by Pain Medicine fellowship training at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He returned to southern Minnesota to establish a Pain Medicine practice with the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato in 2015. The Pain Medicine practice is a multidisciplinary practice including consultation, medical management, and interventional procedures for the treatment of acute and chronic pain.

Tonight’s discussion will explore some of the basic physiology of patients experiencing pain, recent updates on the recommendations for use of opioids in clinical practice, new (and not so new) interventional procedures and surgery used for treatment of chronic pain, and address some of the unique biopsychosocial challenges and management strategies for patients living with chronic pain.

1.8 Contact Hours provided for nursing in accordance with the Minnesota Board of Nursing requirements. Other disciplines may submit to their boards for one and a half (1.5) contact hours.
